The Accumul8 Exhibition
Moving Forward is the title for this year’s Accumul8 exhibition of photographs by young people who are homeless and living in hostels and who took part in this year’s Accumul8 photography workshops. The exhibition is at The Guardian in King’s Cross and runs until 31st July (10am – 6pm).
The Accumul8 photography workshops give the young person a valuable and much-needed opportunity to leave the hostel, learn new skills, make friends and explore their creativity. Most importantly, through attending the Accumul8 workshops, their self-confidence and sense of personal value increases, which helps them to become more positive and, so, make more positive decisions in their lives and for their future.
This year, Marice Cumber, Accumul8 Founder and Director, has established the Accumul8 Scholarship to pay for one participant to study on a one year creative and digital media course at Ravensbourne. The scholarship, which has been part sponsored by BOP Consulting, including a work placement at their creative industries research consultancy, has been awarded to Sam Adesanya. Sam has described the scholarship opportunity as “a dream come true” and says: “This is what I really want to do. I hope winning the scholarship will enable me to go forward and work towards a career in photography, or something else creative.”
